THE ROSEDark opal N. 5 - Transparent material. A series of fluid grooves and crests create the impression of a wild rose. In daylight as well as under artificial lights it gives a play of greens and blues.
Brilliance: Good and uniform under daylight and artificial light.
Pattern: Medium size patches, uniformly distributed over the gem's surface.
Faults: None. Excellent polishing.
Dimensions: 21.7 mm x 19.6 mm x 15.3 mm.
NOT A FROGCombination of black opal N. 4 and dark opal N. 5 and N. 6. Abstract shape on three levels. Two concave festoons on the upper level show a delicate blue merging into the brilliant green of the lower, slightly undulated and translucid level, dotted with yellow and orange. A sharp step marks the edge with the third, flat, blue/dark green and semi-opaque level. Green is predominant, while green/blue is secondary.
Brilliance: From top to bottom, moderate-brilliant-moderate.
Pattern: Good with some finely dotted pattern.
Faults: Minimal with inconspicuous sand dot in the dark blue level.
Dimensions: 55 mm x 28 mm x 13.5 mm.
THE FANDark opal N. 5. Abstract shape with a series of valleys and crests creating a fan-like shape. Green and blue equally balanced in all directions.
Brilliance: Medium in day light. Good under artificial light.
Pattern: Medium to small colour patches.
Faults: Some sand at back.
Dimensions: 18.4 mm x 14.5 mm x 5.4 mm.

Once in Australia she was so taken by the beauty of Australian opals that she took up a three year apprenticeship, indentured to Andrew Cody in Melbourne, while qualifying as a Gemmologist in 1994, with the Gemmological Association of Australia.
In 1995 she moved permanently to Lightning Ridge and opened her workshop.
Daniela won the Second Prize at the 2000 Australian Gemstone Design Awards and First, Second, Third prizes at the Opal Jewellery Design Awards (Carving category) in 2001.
Her works are sold in the USA, Japan and Europe and will be exhibited at the Tucson Show, from 1
st to 19
th October 2003.
